With the growing number of popular new restaurants, Oceanside has clearly emerged as the epicenter of the North County San Diego culinary/craft beer scene. And Local Tap House (LTH for those in the know), is at the forefront. Packed at 6:00pm on a Sunday night, this establishment follows the trend towards open cavernous spaces with large lively communal tables. On the food side, local farm fresh produce and seafood rule.
There’s a nice selection of hedonistic craft cocktails such as the “Yes Ma’am,” a Citron Vodka delight complete with a citrus slice and floating cranberries. Equally impressive is the range of local craft beer on tap including San Diego stalwarts Ballast Point, Coronado Brewing Company and Latitude 33. Speaking of which, Latitiude’s Honey Hips is a blond beer with a mellow citrus tang. The divergent yet harmonious ingredients in the Crispy Artichokes and Burrata Cheese Snack showcase Chef Daniel Pudnik’s creative genius. The artichoke, cheese, kale pesto and balsamic come together into an explosion of divine flavor. The perfectly cooked Cajun Nori Crusted Tombo Tuna is served with addictive garlicky udon noodles.
