INTERVIEW BY MERCY BARON, BARON’S BBQ BEAT
Josh Weigel, band member from Barnwell Shift will be performing at the Pre Event Dinner. Each band or performer was asked some telling questions…..
What is the most interesting place that you’ve ever performed?
Music has taken us internationally from Mexico to Europe. Our most interesting trip was after our first recording in Ensenada, Baja. We got offered to play the award ceremony for the “Big Wave World Tour” and drove our ’67 VW Bus across the border for a folk, funk adventure! The locals loved us and we created an annual partnership with the tour to play all of their ceremonies in Baja & California. We even wrote a song about it which is on our most recent recording we released outside Paris, France last year.
What are some of your favorite places to perform in San Diego?
Belly Up Tavern, of course. Our local shows at Goat Hill Park in Oceanside and Campland by the Bay, the best festival location in San Diego!
Who inspires you?
Those standing up for what they believe in while creating a positive, constructive society for everyone no matter the circumstance.
What’s your favorite food?
Living Tea’s kombucha & Nii Bars! Mexican food is the reason I moved out West!
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
Play music. Unfortunately/fortunately Living Tea takes up most of my free time, but even if we never practiced or rehearse I feel at home performing for an attentive audience. You would be surprised how many times we just show up & play without practice. Our upcoming Belly Up show is the first show we have rehearsed for in at least a year!
