INTERVIEW BY MERCY BARON, BARON’S BBQ BEAT
Perfect Strangers Music describes themselves as kids of the ’90s, Perfect Strangers Music is proud to perform the tunes they grew up hearing on the radio. Supported by James’ rhythm guitar and Dustin’s lead guitar, James and Stefanie share vocal duties, creating a unique sound. With covers ranging from Michael Jackson and Alanis Morissette to Gin Blossoms and The Sundays, there’s something for everyone. It’s a show you won’t want to miss.
What is the most interesting place that you’ve ever performed?
James, Stefanie, and Dustin have performed in some unique places; James once performed Jesus Christ Superstar in Concert at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine, Stefanie recently sang the Star-Spangled Banner at the Staples Center for an LA Kings game, Dustin plays lead guitar for the Godsmack cover band Smack Nation – all of those shows are interesting.
What are some of your favorites spots to perform in San Diego?
Our favorite spots to play as a band are at Relm in Carlsbad and the back patio at Wrench and Rodent in Oceanside.
Who inspires you?
James finds inspiration in the music of Duncan Sheik and Jason Mraz; Stefanie is inspired by her mom and her sister, both strong women; Dustin draws inspiration from people who give selflessly.
What’s your favorite food?
Stefanie loves all of the food that Davin and Loren Waite make for her, James is happy as long as there’s bacon on it, and Dustin’s food choices change depending on his mood. Stephanie and James do want to point out that Dustin is an excellent chef and cooks an amazing Thanksgiving dinner!
What do you like to do when you’re not working?
We all enjoy watching sports: Stefanie cheers for the LA Kings, Dustin is a fan of Manchester United, and James roots for the Packers, James also enjoys playing disc golf and spending time with his wife and two children. Stefanie and Dustin like to hang out at Disneyland and take their dog,Sam, for walks.
